The “Rolls-Royce of beds” is how Travelodge Chief Executive Grant Hearn described the budget hotel group’s new sleep offering. Produced by Sleepeezee, bedding experts of renown, the ‘King Size’ beds will replace more than 30,000 units ‘time expired’. Part of a £57m refurbishment scheme for its 500-plus hotels, Travelodge has also unveiled its new room design.
The bed is the outstanding feature of the new creation and is complemented by a range of fabrics to help create a warm and cosy ambiance harmonising the colour scheme. Stripes in colours of red, grey and blue have been incorporated into the décor via the curtains and bed runner. Vertical ones have been chosen due to their illusion of making a room look taller, and to create a more restful and contemporary atmosphere.
Other additions include a stylish white contemporary en-suite bathroom with a power shower, stain and water resistant carpet in a dark shade of blue, a larger desk area, new reading lights and a phone charging socket built into the bed frame. The room also includes artwork above the bed.
In 2013, Travelodge will open 14 UK hotels including four properties in London (Bethnal Green, Hounslow, Vauxhall and Walthamstow), Liverpool, Cambridge, Aylesbury, Southport, Kings Lynn, Sittingbourne, Manchester and Chertsey. www.travelodge.co.uk
