It is a first, and might finish up being copied, but at Tokyo Narita a new SkyPriority fast-track security lane has opened, offering SkyTeam’s premium customers a speedier airport experience. Virgin Atlantic has a similar operation at Heathrow Terminal 3, and other airlines too have dedicated security arrangements but this appears to be a first time for an alliance.
Available exclusively to Elite Plus, First and Business Class customers flying from Terminal 1-North, it is one of a number of benefits available as part of SkyTeam’s alliance-wide SkyPriority initiative which it is promoting as red treatment for top customers.
SkyPriority was launched at Narita in March last year. In addition to fast-track security clearance, eligible customers enjoy priority services such as: dedicated check-in desks; priority boarding and baggage collection; and priority at transfer and ticket desks. By the end of 2013, the programme will be rolled-out to all of SkyTeam’s 1,000 destinations worldwide.
Narita International Airport is served by 11 of SkyTeam’s 19 members, with 349 non-stop flights per week linking Tokyo to key destinations in Europe, North and Central America, Asia and Greater China. www.skyteam.com
