NATS US website

The UK-based global air traffic provider NATS has launched a dedicated US website, to promote its expertise in that country.  Once called National Air Traffic Services it is owned by the British Government (51%), a group of senior UK airlines (42%), with the staff holding 4% and BAA (Heathrow) 3%.

The United States is a key strategic market for NATS, which opened an office in Washington, DC in October 2011.  Since then it has been providing first hand air traffic management expertise to support key FAA bids.

In September 2012, NATS was a part of the winning consortium for the FAA’s US$331m Data Communication Integrated Services (DCIS) contract to upgrade ground to aircraft communications.  That award followed success earlier in the year as part of the winning group for the ETASS contract, providing support services for NextGen’s En Route ATC modernisation.

In the States, NATS offers expertise in consulting, engineering support, information, airport optimisation and defence.  As well as handling 2.2m flights a year in the UK, NATS also works in over 30 countries around the world and also has staff based in Spain, the Middle East and Hong Kong. www.nats.aero/us
