The new national carrier for The Gambia, Gambia Bird Airlines has introduced a twice weekly Gatwick service. A Wednesday service goes directly to Banjul, the capital, whilst a Saturday operation routes via Freetown, capital of Sierra Leone.
The airline currently operates scheduled flights from Banjul to Accra, Barcelona Conakry (Guinea), Dakar and Monrovia, plus Freetown and London.
Lagos is shortly to be added to the network of destinations.
Gambia Bird is supported by the Germania Group, a German airline with 26 years’ experience in the aviation industry throughout Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
Thomas Wazinski, Chief Executive Officer of Gambia Bird, comments: “Flights from London-Gatwick to Banjul in The Gambia and to Freetown in Sierra Leone herald the start of our new airline and open a gateway to West Africa that brings safe, reliable and exceptional air travel within the reach of every customer. Everyone has a stake in the future of Gambia Bird: the business people who need a punctual scheduled service, the tourists from Europe and other African countries who enjoy the special West African hospitality, the friends and families working in Europe who want to visit home.” www.gambiabird.com
