Amsterdam looks like it will become United Airlines first international Boeing 787 route when the aircraft is introduced at Houston on 4 December 2012, on what the airline calls “a temporary basis”. The brand new aircraft will have initially flown on domestic routes but details have not yet been announced.
Configured with 36 seats in United BusinessFirst, 72 seats in United Economy Plus and 111 seats in United Economy, the Dreamliner is clearly a breakthrough in the flying experience, while delivering unprecedented operating efficiency, comfort and lower emissions. Customers will experience greater comfort with improved lighting, bigger windows, larger overhead bins, lower cabin altitude and enhanced ventilation systems, among other passenger-friendly features.
London comes on stream 4 February next year, also from Houston. Narita joins the 787 family on 3 January from Los Angeles and Denver 31 March. Los Angeles to Shanghai, begins 30 March.
Lagos has also been chosen as an early 787 destination with Houston connected from 7 January next year.
To date 17 Dreamliners have been delivered to customer airlines. www.united.com
