Air Southwest says business as usual whilst it waits for its takeover by Eastern Airways to be consummated.
For the new year the Plymouth-based carrier will introduce a daily service between Newquay and Cardiff starting 4 January. The short flight across the Bristol Channel eliminates a 193-mile road journey which includes the Severn Bridge (where the toll for a car of £5.50 is to be raised by 80p on 1 January 2011).
Assuming that the takeover goes ahead it is likely that current Air Southwest Managing Director Peter Davies will be devoting much more of his time to the Mill End Hotel in Chagford on Dartmoor which he recently purchased. He says that in some ways it is rather like “an aircraft that remains static with revenue and yield management being vital, as indeed a high level of customer service and attention to detail.” www.millendhotel.com www.airsouthwest.com
