Canada and Qatar have signed an air service agreement which is likely to pave the way for non-stop flights between either Montreal or Toronto to Doha. Provision has been made for up to three direct passenger services a week as well as three cargo flights between the two countries.
Qatar Airways is extremely expansion minded at the present time and already serves North America with flights to New York JFK, Washington Dulles and Houston George Bush. The airline currently has 12 Boeing 777-200LRs in its fleet (with two more to come), the 259-seat (42/217) aircraft probably ideal for the route. Flight distance is 6,700 miles indicating an in the air time of around 15 hours, much in line with the carrier’s Doha to Sao Paulo service. www.qatarairways.com
