Tyre emergency

On the way back from the SMMT test day at the Oakly Hall Hotel, Basingstoke, in a delightful Skoda Scala Monte Carlo, the Editor-in-Chief suffered a puncture but managed to limp home.

Full credit to Quick Mobile Tyres of Mill Hill (A1/A41 junction) who arrived within 15 minutes of the call out, then found a replacement tyre, and had me back on the road within 24 hours.  Well done.  The 17-inch tyre is not-common-or-garden.

Presumably the Skoda is yet another of the multitude of new car models that only has - to quote Autocar regularly " handy additional compartment under the boot floor" rather than the more sensible " the space where there ought to be some form of spare wheel and tools".
