Together with London City Airport, BA CityFlyer is holding a careers special open day. With the airport closed, as per normal, next Saturday afternoon (10 September), from 2pm to 6pm (that’s 14:00 to 18:00 in aviation language) check-in at the main terminal building to meet cabin crew, staff, pilots, aircraft engineers and the airport staff to share insights into their roles.#####
Flying the planes is a complex job but the actual “ground” (another aviation term) operation can be just as complex starting from the check-in to lounge services, and all the backroom tasks.
Those taken on by British Airways CityFlyer could be in a job for life, employed by one of the world’s great airlines. CityFlyer itself operates 22 Embraer regional jets and flies to 36 destinations. In 2019 it carried nearly three million passengers.
As part of BA Cityflyer’s commitment to sustainability it is encouraging and prioritising candidates living nearby in East London or the Newham area. But if you are interested and do not live locally you will find the afternoon very useful.
Do not come by car. Parking is very expensive and the DLR and local buses provide good transport facilities. Street parking is possible on a Saturday afternoon with the airport entrance via Hartmann Road.
And yes, one of the perks of working for BA is sometimes free, or discounted flights, but that’s some way off.
