CAA at the Aviation Club *

It could be one of the most interesting Aviation Club lunches for a very long time.

On Wednesday 14 September Sir Stephen Hillier, Chair of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), is to be the Guest of Honour at the Aviation Club’s usual venue, the RAC, Pall Mall, London.

Sir Stephen will talk about the 50 years of the CAA but there is little doubt that members will want to question him on Heathrow fees and his relationship with a new government installed by that time.

Having been appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps in May 2020 Sir Stephen, a former head of the Royal Air Force, started flying with a simple PPL and operated Tornado aircraft in the 1991 Gulf War. He retired in 2019.  He also spoke to the Club live on Zoom 11 March 2021.

Fred Friend, Leicester

What a wonderful opportunity to ask the man at the very top questions on topics such as the Heathrow charges situation and its ruling with Flybe which is again topical.
