Following BTN’s Airbus A380 review in last week’s edition news has leaked out that British Airways is to revamp its 12-strong fleet in 2024.
(See BTN 8 August A380 – Is there a future?)Whether the airline sends out its executives to see what its competitors have on offer will be a closely guarded secret but BTN is only too pleased to make a review. At present BA has no bar, nor shower or wi-fi on its A380 aircraft.
The current BA layout is unusual, with First (14 seats), Club World (44) and World Traveller (199) in that order on the lower deck. Upstairs it is Club World (53), World Traveller Plus (55) and World Traveller (104), making a grand total of 469 passengers looked after by 21 cabin crew.
This aircraft features AVOD (Audio Video on Demand) at every seat with 120 CDs and several radio programmes, including the BBC. A USB and RCA interface is provided in each class, allowing passengers to play music or watch videos from their own entertainment device on their inflight television. Enhanced earphones are provided in First, Club World and World Traveller Plus. Headphones are also complimentary in World Traveller.
