Last Thursday (4 August) jetBlue inaugurated daily Gatwick – Boston flights. The airline already serves the South London airport from New York Kennedy airport and operates out of the North Terminal.Robin Hayes, Chief Executive, said that the airline’s London – New York service had been “an incredible success”, adding how jetBlue was “thrilled” to now offer Boston – a route he said had “long suffered from high fares by legacy carriers”.
JetBlue flights between the US and London operate the Airbus A321LR aircraft with 24 Mint suites, 114 Core seats and the sleek and spacious Airspace cabin interior.
The carrier will fly daily between Boston and Gatwick until 28 October and then increase the service to twice daily. In addition, jetBlue will begin daily Boston – Heathrow service on 20 September.
Last week the airline announced that it will purchase carrier Spirit for US$3.8bn, creating America’s fifth-largest airline. (See BTN 1 August JetBlue in deal to buy Spirit.)
