Net zero is now 2040 *

Made public at the Farnborough Air Show the British Government has committed UK domestic aviation to achieving net zero emissions by 2040, and for all airports in England to be zero-emission by the same year.

In a statement featuring Grant Shapps Department for Transport (DfT), and Kwasi Kwarteng Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), it set new targets to reduce aviation’s carbon emissions and prevent them from increasing above pre-pandemic levels.
