All-women crew for Saudi airline

An all-women domestic flight has been reported from Saudi Arabia.  This is considered a major breakthrough following Israeli airlines permission to overfly the country.
(See BTN 18 July Israel and Saudi Arabia.)

Chosen for the first flight was Saudi Airlines' subsidiary Flyadeal, a low-cost airline.  The service was from Jeddah, on the Red Sea coast, to Riyadh, the nation’s capital.

There were seven female crew members on the trip and any passenger response was not quoted.  The Captain was from overseas.

Women's engagement in numerous areas in Saudi Arabia has been a topic of debate recently. For instance, government authorities are working hard to boost Saudi Arabia's aviation industry. By the end of this decade, Saudi Arabia wants to quadruple its annual passenger volume to 33m. Furthermore, the nation has established a goal of luring ten trillion dollars in investment into the industry by 2030. In the capital of Riyadh, there are also proposals to establish a new state-owned airline and a brand-new mega-airport.
