Today (18 July) the world of aerospace, both civil and military, come together talking to customers and politicians at Farnborough. There will be announcements galore.
The show runs until Friday 22 July.
One thing for sure. The days of a massive (and noisy) flying display are gone forever.
The flypast will be sparse, including even the much-heralded Boeing 777X, hardly a newcomer to airshows, this being its fourth appearance at such gatherings. At the Boeing press conference maybe we will learn of the first delivery date. British Airways has it on order.
We list the known participants in alphabetical order:
Airbus will be flying the latest A350-900.
Boeing 737-10 MAX.
Boeing P-8 Poseidon RAF reconnaissance aircraft.
Boeing Stearman wing walking.
Embraer E190-E2.
TAI Hurkus primary and basic trainer aircraft designed and manufactured by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).
The TAI/AgustaWestland T129 ATAK is a twin-engine, tandem seat, multi-role, all-weather attack helicopter.
Royal Navy Black Cat display team AgustaWestland Wildcat HMA.2 anti-submarine and anti-shipping helicopter, with the aircraft and crews drawn from 825 Naval Air Squadron based at RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset.
RAF Falcons and British Army Red Devils parachute teams.
RAF Chinnok.
RAF Grob Tutor basic trainer.
RAF Typhoon and F35 (also USAF) and Red Arrows flypast.
Rolls-Royce Spitfire and battle of Britain of Britain Memorial flight.
Taylorcraft Auster AOP9 (Historic Army Aircraft Flight).
