Hotel gun ban

Following yet another United States shooting frenzy, hotels in New York City have agreed to ban guns from hotel rooms. The Hotel Association of New York City and the Hotel Trades Council reached agreement on a firearms ban Travel Mole America reports.

Action was taken after the US Supreme Court threw out New York’s concealed carry law. The NY State Legislature then passed a bill that allows guns to be banned in ‘sensitive areas’ which includes private businesses, after lobbying by the Hotel Trades Council.

“This is really important because it’s a destination marketplace for the world”, said Vijay Dandapani, President & CEO, Hotel Association of NYC.

“The focus of this is entirely on the safety of the people coming in here”.
