Airbus v Qatar Airways continued

The forthcoming International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting (IATA AGM) at Doha (19–21 June) could be set for a confrontation between Qatar Airways and Airbus.

The host, Qatar Airways, CEO Akbar Al Baker, has the perfect platform to put his case to the industry.  The situation might even top another high-profile subject, airline access to Russia.  Willie Walsh, Director General, IATA, will have to be in top form.

Qatar Airways says that it is not its normal practice to issue detailed media statements.  However, it feels justified in this case.

“Given the inaccurate information and statements that continue to be issued by Airbus and in the interests of our customers and the industry, we now do so.”

Some sort of conciliatory arbitration seems a long way off.
