London’s Covent Garden has a new hotel, The Amano, operated by the German hotelier of the same name.
The 141-room property is located in a former 1980s office building known as Drury House, on the corner of Drury Lane and Russell Street, at the rear of the Theatre Royal.
In a novel marketing move the rooms are split into Cosy, Comfy or Roomy categories, while five ‘Goldy’ rooms include freestanding gold bathtubs and views over Covent Garden.
The hotel has a rooftop bar and terrace on the 7th floor, which offers cocktails and bar snacks, and there is also a basement bar. A ground floor restaurant is planned for this autumn called Penelope’s offering a fusion of Israeli and Spanish cuisine from the group’s Culinary Director Ronen Dovrat Bloch.
Berlin regulars may be familiar with the group which has eight hotels in the German capital and also properties in Dusseldorf and Munich.
