Almaty, the commercial capital of Kazakhstan, is to again be linked to London.Air Astana will launch the flights on 12 May, twice weekly on a Thursday and Sunday, with a stopover at Aktau in the western part of the vast country.
A convenient connecting domestic flight from Nur-Sultan will allow passengers from Kazakhstan’s capital to join the flight from Aktau.
Back in March the airline resumed a twice-weekly, Wednesday and Saturday, non-stop service from the capital Nur-Sultan to Heathrow.
Kazakhstan recently established a visa-free regime for a number of countries, including the UK. Passengers are required to present a negative Covid-19 test taken 72hrs prior to entering the country or valid vaccination passport.

As far as I am aware the new flight via Aktau replaces the direct flight between London and Nur Sultan. I believe this is to avoid flying over Russian air space.
