Western Australia opens up

From last Friday (29 April), fully vaccinated travellers arriving in Western Australia do not have to take any form of Covid test.  They also do not have to register for the States travel pass, while wearing masks on public transport and in airports is no longer mandatory.

Western Australia was the last State in the in sovereign Commonwealth to reopen to international visitors following the pandemic, with Qantas due to switch its non-stop flight from London back to Perth on 19 June after rerouting it to Darwin since November.

The latest changes in Western Australia mean that hospitality venues are no longer required to maintain social distancing and guests do not need proof of vaccination to enter.

This is welcome news for sports fans, who are gearing up for a sports extravaganza this July at the Optus Stadium, including the Wallabies vs England game on 3 July and four English Premier League clubs (Manchester United, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Crystal Palace) heading to Perth’s new stadium to kick off their Australia tour.
