A conclusion to the paintwork dispute between Airbus and customer Qatar Airways could be partially resolved this week.On Thursday a Judge in London’s High Court will rule on Airbus cancelling a Qatar order for 50 A321 jets due, it is alleged, to a paintwork dispute.
In January Qatar Airways began legal proceedings against Airbus in the Technology & Construction Court (TCC), a division of the High Court in England, seeking an expedited hearing to address what is claimed to be serious and legitimate safety concerns regarding the surface degradation condition adversely impacting the Airbus A350 fleet.
In the meantime Airbus is slowly recovering from Covid-19 with 611 deliveries produced in 2021 against a record 863 in 2019.
Qatar Airways continues to win accolades for its in-flight services and rescued International Air Transport Association (IATA) with an offer to host the Annual General Meeting in June when Shanghai became impractical. Qatar at this time operates 75 Airbus aircraft with a further 26 A350s grounded.
