HiJiffy comes to London

It may not have been known to a traveller checking in at one of London’s most sophisticated hotels, but HiJiffy might well be the back office that makes it all work.

Headed by CEO Tiago Araujo, HiJiffy came to London last week to talk about its growth and future.

Founded in 2016, HiJiffy is ostensibly Portuguese but is an international company created to improve the connection between hoteliers and travellers through an artificial intelligence powered communications platform.

An initial pre-seed round raised €360k in July 2018 via Mobile World Capital of Barcelona and in 2020 another €1m was raised with Portugal Ventures.  In the same year it won the World Tourism Organization Innovative Solutions in Tourism award.

The company says that its mission is to help hoteliers to increase revenue and improve guest experience through automation in key stages of the guest journey.

Key to the operation is the Booking Assistant linked to a chatbot which detects the need to hand the conversation over to a human agent allowing for a seamless takeover. The Virtual Concierge offers artificial intelligence including pre-check-in and dealing with items such as room upgrades.
