Wizz from Wales *

Last week Wizz, clearly with the Easter holidays in mind, launched the first of nine new holiday routes from its new base at Cardiff Airport.  A local recruitment drive was also announced.

The airline will operate services to Alicante, Faro, Heraklion, Lanzarote, Larnaca, Palma Majorca and Tenerife, with flights to Corfu planned to start in June, and Sharm El Sheikh in November.

Wizz was recently named as the new title sponsor of the Cardiff Half Marathon, with the first Wizz Air Cardiff Half Marathon taking place on Sunday 2 October. The sponsorship builds on Wizz Air’s successful partnerships with running events across Europe, in cities such as Bucharest, Budapest and Skopje, and demonstrates its strong commitment to Cardiff, as well as promoting inclusive sports tourism and an active lifestyle.

Although headquartered in Budapest Wizz Air UK is a British airline and listed on the London Stock Exchange.  It also has bases at Doncaster, Gatwick and Luton airports and currently operates around 130 Airbus A320 series aircraft.

Wizz Air is recruiting for cabin and flight crew at Cardiff Airport, and welcomes applications from both experienced cabin crew, and those with no previous experience. An open recruitment day will be held on 14 April at the Holiday Inn, Cardiff.
