LCY – more business

London City Airport (LCY) has reported its fourth consecutive busiest week since the start of the pandemic, with March passenger numbers set to be up 40% on February’s figures.

LCY also said that it had reached pre-pandemic 2019 levels for business traffic share, representing 46% of passenger journeys, with routes to Amsterdam, Dublin, Edinburgh and Zurich, all seeing strong growth.

Flights will operate from the airport to 36 destinations this summer, around 80% of the 2019 figure.

British Airways has launched new routes to Luxembourg and Milan Malpensa (instead of Milan Linate) from yesterday (27 March), with flights to Rotterdam and Nice also restarting.  This means the carrier will have restored flights to 20 of the 25 destinations that it operated to in 2019.

Meanwhile Italian flag carrier ITA Airways is introducing service between LCY and Milan Linate from today (28 March), using two Embraer E190 jets wet-leased from German Airways.
