Ireland opens up

The Emerald Isle has dropped all Covid-19 entry restrictions on arrivals, regardless of vaccination status.  And Shannon is back on the map.

The move was welcomed as a major boost to the local tourism sector.

The relaxation of border rules also includes the end of passenger locator forms for arrivals in Ireland.  Travellers are no longer required to show proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative Covid-19 test on arrival.

Last week Aer Lingus restarted its transatlantic services from Shannon, reconnecting the mid-west of Ireland with daily flights to Boston and New York operating Airbus next generation A321 NEO LR aircraft from the airport.

This latest Airbus offers a Business Class cabin with 16 fully lie-flat seats, fine dining and complimentary wi-fi, and an Economy Class cabin with complimentary meal and snack and soft drink in-flight, and top inflight entertainment, including the latest movie releases, TV boxsets, games and music.

Aer Lingus will operate 14 direct routes between Ireland and North America in 2022, including New York, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orlando, Washington, Seattle, and Philadelphia.
