The Caribbean has another new London service, helped by the buoyant demand from higher-end leisure travellers.
On 13 October, Virgin Atlantic will introduce Heathrow to St Vincent and the Grenadines – becoming the first European airline to serve the country.
Operating twice weekly, it routes via Barbados in both directions and uses 264-seat A330-300s; with 31 Upper Class, 48 Premium Economy, and 185 Economy.
The flight timings (all local) are particularly attractive, leaving Heathrow at 09:10, arriving Barbados at 14:20 local, with then just over one hour on the ground followed by a scheduled 50min flight to St Vincent – just 112 miles away, one of the shortest wide-body services in the world. The return is at 18.15, Barbados outbound 20:55 arriving in the UK at 09:25 the following day. It’s likely to be very popular with Virgin crews with a two night minimum stopover at a Saint Vincent luxury hotel.
