As it increases its marketing efforts from the New York region British Airways (BA) is launching a new, daytime flight from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Heathrow (LHR), its third daily flight on the route. The additional service, which launches on 6 June, will depart at (all times local) 07:55 from EWR arriving London 19:55. The return is at 19:10, allowing travellers to spend the entire day in London before flying back to New York’s alternative main airport.
It’s not quite the Concorde routine but with the first BA departure from LHR at 08:25 arriving Kennedy (JFK) at 11:05, and the last flight back at 23:00 landing also at 11:05, it is quite practical to visit New York for the day.
With this new frequency British Airways, along with its joint business partner American Airlines (AA), will offer the most extensive network between the two cities with 15 daily departures this summer, including 11 daily flights between JFK and LHR and a single service on the JFK – Gatwick route.
From April, all flights to JFK and EWR from LHR on BA and AA will depart out of BA’s Terminal 5, and by the end of the year, all BA flights from JFK will depart from AA’s home in Terminal 8.
