Speaking to Sky News last Tuesday morning (25 January) Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Transport, said that the Government was planning to simplify the documents in a bid to make travel easier.
He agreed that the form, known as a Passenger Locator Form (PLF), is "ridiculously complicated".
It comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed Day 2 tests for fully vaccinated travellers returning to the country will be scrapped from Friday 11 February.
Shapps said the move has been a "long time coming".
"When you go abroad, there are no more tests to take when you come home", he added. "The only thing we ask you to do is fill in a passenger locator form, which we are going to simplify. They are ridiculously complicated to work your way through.
"You will fill in one of those passenger locator forms and that’s it – no quarantine, no testing and all of that cost will drop away".
BTN’s Editor-in-Chief recently went through the process at Hamad International Airport, helped by Qatar Airways staff.

The September 2021 version was considerably simpler than that of August 2020 whenmy wife and I had to hibernate for 2 weeks on return from the Netherlands. It seems to have served little or no purpose and even less so for Uk residents with latest rules.the new rules

How daft can you get. The Oz flights to Heathrow with Qantas are very good and let’s hope the A380 soon returns. I for one would not liked sitting on an A320 for 27 hours. Much better the privacy of First. And she was supposed to work when she got here.

All I can say is filling up the form was not easy and I too was helped at Doha airport by the staff who had done it many times before. It seems that the airline is libel if it is wrong. When I got the Heathrow it was just like old times and we sailed through.
