Vueling adds at Gatwick

Vueling has announced plans to add five new routes to Spain from Gatwick as part of its summer schedule.

The IAG carrier will fly to La Coruña, Malaga and Seville from 1 April, while flights to Granada and Menorca will commence on 2 April.  None of these flights clash with sister company BA EuroFlyer.

The airline already operates direct flights to Barcelona, Bilbao, Santiago de Compostela and Valencia from Gatwick.

The additional routes mean that the low-cost carrier will have a total of 24 direct services from the UK to France, Italy and Spain this summer.

The airline will continue to operate flights this summer from Paris Orly to Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle.

The low-cost carrier operates from a further six UK airports, with non-stop operations from Cardiff to Alicante, Malaga and Palma, and from Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester to Barcelona.

Carolyn Prowse, Chief Commercial, Strategy and Network Officer at Vueling, said: “We are very proud to announce the development of our international network from London Gatwick thanks to the coordination with British Airways which enables us to offer the best joint product from London to help grow our markets. This is particularly true after two very difficult years for tourism and aviation.”

This summer Vueling will operate a total of 320 routes, more than 220 of which are international.  It currently operates 120 Airbus A320 series aircraft and employs around 3,000 staff.
