Italy is seen as the latest growth area for Wizz.
Whilst most of the services will have limited schedules the expansion certainly puts Wizz even more on the Italian map at a time when new national airline ITA is trying to establish itself.
Rome Fiumicino (FCO) gains a further Airbus A320 neo bringing the local fleet up to five. Thirteen new routes will be introduced.
Since opening its first base at Milan Malpensa in July 2020 it has added Bari, Catania, Naples, Palermo and Rome Fiumicino. A seventh Italian base at Venice Marco Polo will launch in March 2022.
The OAG Schedules Analyser data shows that Wizz is currently the third largest operator at FCO (5.46%) behind ITA (27.22%) and Ryanair (18.94%).
