If you are using Heathrow over the Christmas weekend be very careful regarding travel to and from the airport.
The UK's busiest airport will have no London Underground, Heathrow Express or TfL Rail (Heathrow Connect) services for the two days due to major engineering work planned a long time ago. There will be a special bus operation from Hammersmith and all other routes will operate as per normal for the holiday.
“We need to spend 52 hours removing aging and unreliable signalling equipment and swapping it,” said Mike Gallop, Network Rail’s Western Route and Strategic Operations Director. “The very best time is when there is fewer people travelling.”
Christmas Day is a Saturday, with Sunday, Monday & Tuesday (26, 27, 28 December) official Bank Holidays.

That's not correct, Malcolm - The bank holidays over Christmas are Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th December. Sunday cannot be a bank holiday because it a non-working day.
