Ryanair backs Cork

In what is an astute vote of confidence for the south-west of the Irish Republic, Ryanair is to restore its Cork operation in 2022 to pre-pandemic levels.

For Summer 2022 Ryanair will return to Cork, Kerry, Knock and Shannon airports with a similar flight schedule to 2019.

The bad news is that Dublin Airport is set to have a reduction of 35% in Ryanair traffic for next summer.

In a statement the airline says that unless the Government and the Minister for Transport support the airport operator in extending the current Covid traffic recovery scheme until the end of summer 2022, as Cork Airport has done, the airline plans to reduce capacity by 35%. The threat is to move the aircraft elsewhere in Europe, together with the jobs.  In respect of Dublin, Ryanair says that it speaks on behalf of all Dublin Airport airlines.
