Turkey stays in the red

More countries move into ‘green’ from today.

Contrary to persistent rumours in Whitehall last week Turkey, together with other countries, including Oman, Pakistan and the Philippines, stays in the England ‘red’ list.  Travellers from those states entering Britain need to stay in a government-approved hotel for 10 days at a cost of £2,285.  Thailand and Montenegro have been added to the ‘red’ list.

Arrivals from ‘amber’ list counties must take a Covid-19 test three days before they travel.  Fully vaccinated arrivals require a test two days after arrival, but no vaccinated persons are required to quarantine for 10 days. Greece, Italy and Spain remain on the ‘amber’ list.

With ‘green’ list arrivals the rules are much the same but whatever your origination country is a passenger's locator form needs completing, normally online. New to the ‘green’ list are The Azores, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania and Switzerland.

The rules vary for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Amongst the deluge of statements put out by organisations regarding travel, ranging from trade unions to airports, Airlines UK best summed up the situation noting that “international travel from the UK is more expensive, burdensome, and uncertain compared to our neighbours despite travel abroad being no riskier than travel with the UK.”
