Flypop

Start-up carrier Flypop has published images of its first A330 aircraft painted in a distinctive livery featuring multi-coloured dots on the tailfin.

Last month Flypop confirmed that Stansted airport would be its initial UK base. The carrier is financed by the UK Government’s Future Fund scheme and crowdfunding.  CEO is Nadip (Nino) Singh, a one-time British Army officer and closely involved with Air Asia owner Tony Fernandes and his Caterham Formula One project.

Launch routes have yet to be confirmed, but the airline has outlined a number of target destinations for 2021 and 2022, including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow and Pune.

The airline points out that 70% of the UK’s 4m Indian and South Asian diaspora live within a two-hour drive of Stansted. Over 1.5m UK Indians are close to or within easy reach of the airport, including 900,000 in London and the southern regions of England and 363,000 in the Midlands.

In April Flypop signed a “multiple aircraft A330-300 lease deal” with Avolon, and said that it was targeting the launch of flights by October.
