The Boston Park Plaza Hotel, just by Boston Common in the heart of the city, has been confirmed as the venue for the 77th International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit (WATS).Set for 3 to 5 October there is a question mark over which delegates will be allowed into the United States due to Federal Covid restrictions and also rules introduced by their originating country for the return.
It will be the first IATA AGM held in the United States since Miami in 2015, and prior to that Washington in 2003. The previous Summit took place in Seoul in June 2019 with the planned Amsterdam event once again set for that month in 2020, moved to November, becoming an exclusive on-line gathering.
Willie Walsh, the former boss of International Airlines Group (IAG) will host the proceedings for the first time since becoming Director General of the airline industry’s trade organisation in April 2020.
