As of today (Monday 2 August) it appears that US citizens meeting the vaccination requirements can now come to the UK and return without any entry problems. For Brits it is not so easy!
From Phoenix, Arizona, Dr Jeff Singer, a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute, comments: “If I ever hear another Biden administration official talking about “following the science,” I swear I’m going to flip my lid. What does 'follow the science' mean for US borders?
"Well, under the travel bans Biden keeps failing to adjust, an unvaccinated American can come and go from any country, including largely unvaccinated Africa, Covid hotspots in South America, and Europe and the UK. But vaccinated Brits and Europeans, including those on non-immigrant visas who aren’t exempted from the bans but work, live, and have families here, cannot currently re-enter the US from the UK or Europe without spending 14 days in a non-banned country like Mexico. Can someone riddle me the science behind that?”

The UK governement entry system with the mandatory tests is proving to be nothing but a cynical money makin g exercise for the government and their associates. Some European countries are able to offer free tests to those going or returning from abroad, yet the UK allows this system whereby brand new companies are given licence to process visitors tests, rather than the health service or other existing services. Its an absolute scam.

Very excited to now have to quarantine during my upcoming visit. Not so crazy about having to take a Day 2 test that is unlikely to deliver results until I am back home (on day 3). What a senseless disregard for people's money. It's best enough that vaccinated people have to be tested at all. But to make us take two tests before Day 2 (for those of us coming over for a few days) is senseless.
