London City adds flights and aircraft

With British Airways Cityflyer (BACF) adding flights to a specific number of destinations London City Airport is beginning to come alive with the terminal open all day weekdays, Saturday morning and from 11:00 Sunday.

The private jet centre is operational similar hours.

No significant delays have been reported regarding border controls.

Collison is providing a full range of government approved tests for arriving and departing international passengers with a new facility just outside the terminal entrance.

What is causing serious problems is a lack of guidance from government with BA unable to confirm flights to the Greek islands and Tenerife. Likewise Swiss for Geneva and Zurich.

Operating 112-seat two-class Embraer 190s with full Economy courtesy service, BACF will this week fly twice each weekday to Belfast City, Frankfurt, Edinburgh and Glasgow, with single services to Dusseldorf, Faro, Gibraltar and Palma, as well as Jersey and Guernsey (starting from 25 June).  KLM is twice daily to Amsterdam whilst Luxair (Luxembourg), Loganair (Dundee) and LOT (Vilnius) provide a single flight per weekday.  There are limited services at the weekend.

On a positive front the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has confirmed that the Embraer E190-E2 has been certified for Steep Approach; a requirement for the airport.  Whilst still only offering a 98-seat capacity (in the BA mode) the aircraft has a greater range and is quieter than the original Embraer regional jet.
