Connecting at CDG

Our regular contributor Alison Chambers yesterday (Sunday 13 June) flew to Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on the island of Sint Maarten (French: Saint-Martin) as a guest speaker at Caribavia, the Caribbean Aviation conference.  From Heathrow she went Air France via Paris.  A full report will follow.

“Spare a thought for airline check-in staff.  Not only do you, as a passenger, have to ready a lot of pre-flight admin – double vaccination proof (check); PCR result (check) certificate of honour (check) – they have to thoroughly check it all!  And that is right down to ensuring the PCR test was taken on the correct day – my destination requires the test be taken 72 hours in advance.

This all played out at 05:00 this morning at the shared KLM/Air France check-in, Terminal 2, ahead of the 06:15 Flight AF1381 to Paris CDG en route to a Caribbean paradise.   Check-in was very busy. Judging by the large cases many passengers were connecting on to long-haul flights. Security in comparison was very light, just enough time to pick up some water at WH Smith and head for the gate.

First leg was by Airbus A319 with 31 passengers in Economy and Business Class a full 14 complement. Black coffee and passenger locator form to fill in. Free wi-fi to send messages (including reporting back to BTN).

We took off on time and landed at 08:10, 20min ahead of schedule.  At CDG it was very easy my luggage checked through and boarding straightforward."
