Home Office exaggerates.
An early April statement by Her Majesty’s Passport Office (HMPO) suggesting that people should now allow up to 10 weeks when applying for their passport has proved to be misguided.
A staff member of Business Travel News received a new passport within 12 days of posting including two weekends and a Bank Holiday. The standard rate of £75 was paid.
Passengers on the popular current cruise ship itineraries around the UK do not legally need a passport but some form of identification is required. Minors (under 18) not travelling with their parents also need an authority.
A request for clarification has been put to Abi Tierney, Director General for Her Majesty’s Passport Office.
