EasyJet and Swissport

In move clearly designed to show confidence in the future of European travel easyJet has signed a new 5-year contract with Swissport covering airport ground services for 30 daily flights at the airline’s Berlin hub.

The Luton-based carrier at the same time renewed its agreement with Swissport at Basel and Geneva airports until 2025.  In 2020, the two companies worked together at some 20 airports across Europe.

"The new contract is a sign of the trust we have been able to build together through our various collaborations across our network in Europe," said Willy Ruf, Senior Vice President Central & Eastern Europe at Swissport International. "Our teams on the ground in Berlin are excited to serve easyJet and its passengers and look forward to starting operations this fall."

Since starting operations at the new Berlin Airport in late October 2020, Swissport Berlin has steadily added international airline customers, currently serving 17 airlines there employing around 200 staff.

In 2019, before the Covid-19 related market downturn, Swissport served almost 5.5m passengers on behalf of easyJet at Basel‘s EuroAirport. In Geneva around 8m  easyJet passengers were handled by Swissport’s passenger service agents in 2019.
