Low-cost airline Wizz Air will launch a six-times-a-week service between Luton and Rome Fiumicino on 1 July, and a three-times-a-week route from Liverpool to the city on the same day.
There are at present no non-stop flights from either Liverpool or Luton to Rome Fiumicino and the Eternal City. Wizz Air’s new base at the airport follows the opening of four other Italian bases at Bari, Catania, Milan Malpensa and Palermo in the last year.
Last month Wizz Air announced two new routes from its Luton base to the Turkish resort city of Antalya and the Polish city of Rzeszow.
From Cardiff Airport flights to Alicante, Corfu, Faro, Heraklion, Lanzarote, Larnaca, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife to commence 17 June, with services to Sharm el-Sheikh planned to start in October.
