Sleep pods are being installed by British Airways in some of its lounges, with the first due to open this month in the airline’s First Galleries Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5.
Called ‘Forty Winks’ the area will have seven sleep pods in the old business centre area of the First Lounge, but they will not be available to be booked, instead they will be a traffic-light system at the entrance to the area, as well as lights on the individual pods to show whether they are vacant or occupied.
There will also be five pods in BA’s Concorde Room at Heathrow Terminal 5 and three at the airline’s JFK Lounge.
According to a BA spokesperson, the Sleep Pods come with “a full concierge service” with hot towels and a wake-up drink for passengers using the service.
