New British cruise line

Ambassador Cruise Line is a brand-new Tilbury-based sea holiday operator planning to set sail next April.

Ambassador’s extremely experienced management team includes several members who worked previously with the former Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) led by CEO, Christian Verhounig; supported by Chief Commercial Officer, Christopher Coates; CIO, Gary Hides and CFO, Simon Weeks.

Through funds managed by Njord Partners LLP, London, the company is fully equity-financed (no financial debt). The Chair of the Board of Directors is Gordon Wilson who has over 30 years of experience in the global travel industry. This includes his role as the President and CEO of Travelport until July 2019. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of BCD Holdings which owns global corporate travel management company, BCD Travel.

Called 'Ambience' the line’s initial ship is the former P&O Regal Princess at 70,000 tons and 1,400 capacity.  Ambassador will essentially cater for the over 50s but during the summer holiday period will become family friendly.

The 2022 programme has been published including a three-night maiden voyage from Tilbury to Hamburg 6 April.
