Largely forgotten about, and only operational for light aircraft, Venice Lido Airport, also known as Nucelli, has welcomed it first business jet, a Pilatus PC-24.Located on the island of Lido di Venezia, to the east of the city, it is only 10min by boat from Venice itself.
Nucelli has been in existence since the 1930s but fell into disrepair.
Since 2019, thanks to a new administration, it has come back to life with a fresh reorganisation and restructuring. The single grass runway 05/23 is 994x45m (3264x148ft). The airport is also equipped with a helipad, with a 25x35m (82x114ft) grass landing area and is now selling itself with its indoor spaces and large gardens and terraces, as the ideal venue for meetings and conferences, dinners and private event, exclusive parties, art exhibitions and film shoots. The location is spectacular. Aircraft as large as a Twin Otter can use the facility.
The Pilatus jet performance on short and unpaved runways is ideal for the airport enabling flights from as far as London to be undertaken.
