London outside dining

There is a whole multitude of hotel re-openings in time for Monday 12 April, outdoor dining day, and Monday 17 May when full restaurant facilities are allowed.

BTN has selected three venues who have been in contact and offer fresh air eating but in different settings.

In the heart of Mayfair, at St James Place, and now over 100 years old, The Stafford London has the advantage of offering a lovely courtyard on the ground floor al fresco, or The Stafford Park Suite with views over Westminster, the London Eye and Parliament.  The 'Rule of Six' includes paired wines and champagne to start with, and six courses.  It is priced at £150 per person.

The Soho Sky Terrace sits over the Courthouse Hotel Soho (which formerly housed the trials of Mick Jagger, John Lydon and Christine Keeler); is in Great Malborough Street near the London Palladium and boasts modern furniture as well as portable barbecue; guests can enjoy burgers, seasonal wraps and light bites high above Central London. With a normal capacity for up to 80 people standing and 60 sitting, Soho Sky Terrace regularly plays host to corporate events and private parties.

Made infamous for holding the Kray twins at the height of their notoriety and high above the former Old Street Magistrates Court, now the 5-star Courthouse Hotel, Upper 5th is once again set to stand as one of London’s chicest rooftop getaways, complete with an artisan cocktail menu; perfect for warm afternoons and long summer evenings.  It is just outside the City of London and the setting and views are very different from the two alternatives above.

..."Obviously I can't judge these great looking ex-Government establishments in their entirety just yet but I was asked as a potential guest to 'Trial' these new hotel facilities for one night without normally being 'Charged'. On that particular morning I was late coming down for their breakfast and I felt very 'Guilty' about that. As I was very late all the great breakfasts had gone so I just uttered one 'Sentence'..."Whats left ?... and they said...'Porridge' "..
