UK airport stats

The Civil Aviation Authority has published the January 2021 terminal and transit statistics.  We still wait the compilation for the full year 2020.

Although not every one of the 65 reporting airports have submitted their figures, all of the larger ones have done so and Aberdeen has supplied BTN with the annual numbers which show a drop of 1,937m passengers to 1,029m a reduction of 65%, easily the best performance of the larger airports.  The other AGS airports (Glasgow and Southampton) have not submitted figures.

In January the figures returned to date show 1.29m passengers using the 65 reporting airports, a drop of 94% compared with the same period last year when the figure was 19.296m.  Missing are a couple of important but much smaller regional airports which during the year were losing around 95% of passengers.

Of the London airports Southend was shut for scheduled traffic, Luton and Heathrow lost around 90% and Gatwick/Stansted about 95%. For the mody part London City was down to one flight a day.

Many of the local airports were closed for normal passenger flights although most take emergency and specific private movements.  These include Bournemouth, Bristol, Doncaster and Newquay.

The Isle of Man recorded just 1,218 passengers (-98%), Guernsey 3,035 and Jersey both 94%.
