Southampton Airport is a target for Humberside Airport-based Eastern Airways’ expansion this summer.
From Southampton the airline (normally) provides services to Belfast City, Dublin, Leeds-Bradford, Manchester and Teesside International airports.
As things stand Eastern will add several destinations including a three-times-weekly Rennes service on Thursday 29 April (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) with a 72-seat ATR-600. The next day the aircraft will operate to Nantes with flights on a Friday, Monday and Wednesday. Monday 24 May sees the introduction of an Embraer 190 jet operation to Gibraltar with a flight on a Friday, the aircraft fitting in a return to Birmingham also twice weekly from Friday 28 May and also on a Monday.
Cardiff (CWL) – Belfast City had a pending start date of 8 March but CWL has confirmed it will not be open by that date with expectations of a mid-April start.
