Teesside expansion continues

Local Council-owned Teesside International Airport continues to attract new destinations as a £1m redevelopment of the terminal building is completed.

The airport has opened a business lounge in partnership with the nearby Rockliffe Hall, a nearby 5-star luxury golf and spa hotel.

From Friday 18 December the new daily service to Heathrow by Eastern Airways resumes following the lockdown and in other news Ryanair returns.

Eastern says that the link to London is proving to be exceptionally busy either side of the actual Christmas Day/Boxing Day period and that extra flights have been introduced.  The airline notes that the Aberdeen, Belfast City, Humberside and Southampton services from Teesside offer a different booking dynamic but remain healthy at this difficult time.

Returning to Teesside on 1 June is Ryanair with twice weekly flights to Alicante and Mallorca.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Securing a low-cost airline was always the crucial part in our rescue plan for Teesside Airport, and less than two years after agreeing a deal to buy back our airport, we have made it happen. I want to thank our excellent team who have had a hard year but have got this over the line, making sure Ryanair understands and appreciate the potential Teesside has.”
