Travel to the USA

With flying to the United States (and anywhere for that matter) restricted under the present Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advice, the rules set in the United States might be academic. But it is worth knowing in advance if you aware what they are for when we start again.

Back in September United Airlines introduced a very useful map indicating which States are open, and which are not (see BTN 7 September) but not linked to individual airlines.  Now a Seattle based entrepreneur Allan Jiang, a travel enthusiast and frequent traveller, has taken it one step further creating a website that refreshes daily for each US state, with the most recent summary for airlines, airports, hotels, restaurants, rental cars, etc.

It is not perfect and is being developed the whole time.  You need to click on each state and scroll down, or select a state from a box low down on the right-hand side, and your geography needs to be OK but every airline is listed with its particular rules.

Allan has done some research for his site.  “Vacation Home Rents we have studied the search and click habits of over 1,500 users over the course of three and a half weeks, from October 5 through 29. The goal of this study was the see how North Americans are thinking about travel during the 2020 holiday season and consider what this might mean for the industry into next year.  What is very apparent already is the increasingly short booking windows.”
