In a bid to recoup some of the horrendous losses over the last few months many of the UK’s major airports are introducing or raising their drop-off fees. All except Heathrow. Gatwick recently announced plans to charge next year. (See BTN 12 October).
Business Traveller, the monthly, has produced a deep survey of the situation and finds that the Manchester Aviation Group (MAG), always one to blow its trumpet with good news, has significantly raised its fees, in some cases by over 100%. MAG is keen to point out that there is a free drop-off facility at all its airports.
Edinburgh is now doubling its charges with what it calls a “harmonisation” with the drop-off fee rising from £2 to £4, but the pick-up cost falling from £5 to £4.
With other UK airports the minimum drop-off fee ranges between £2 for Glasgow; £3 for Aberdeen or Birmingham; and £4 for Luton.

Just at a time when nobody wants/needs to travel, they increase fees. A first year economics student could do a better job.
